German City Uses One Tonne Heavy Concrete Christmas Trees To Counter Terror Attacks

As Voice of Europe reported earlier, Germany’s Christmas markets are rapidly changing and will probably never be the same again.

This year the Christmas market in Bautzen will have its anti-terror upgrade. One tonne heavy concrete Christmas trees will be installed as barriers to prevent vehicular attacks.

“The safety of our visitors is very important to us as organisers and we cannot ignore the latent danger situation,” explains mayor Alexander Ahrens.

“And we think the protection tree solution is more elegant than setting up huge concrete blocks,” he adds. But the twelve concrete near the market are controversial for the Greens, a far-left German party.

“For me, this is completely superfluous actionism.” “This is fear mongering for Bautzen as no security warnings of the authorities are known of,” says councillor Claus Gruhl (59) of the Greens….
