Three Policemen And Three Children Killed In Two Bomb Blasts

Three children and three policemen were killed as explosive devices went off in northwest of Mosul, a security sources said on Saturday.

“A bomb from Islamic State’s remnants exploded in al-Qubba village, northwest of Mosul, the source from Nineveh told Alghad Press. “The blast left three children, including two siblings, killed.”

The bomb, according to the source, exploded while the children were playing in a garden.

In related news, a source told BasNews that “local police found bodies of two police conscripts, one of whom was lieutenant general, near the Federal Police headquarters in Badush town. They were shot in the head and chest.”

In the same town, a bomb exploded targeting Federal Police, which left three personnel killed and fourth wounded.

Troops conducted investigations on the bomb blast, however, refused to investigate the issue of the two bodies found in the same town.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi declared victory over IS militants, who had held the second largest Iraqi city since 2014, on July 10.

Violence in the country has surged further with the emergence of Islamic State Sunni extremist militants who proclaimed an “Islamic Caliphate” in Iraq and Syria in 2014.

114 Iraqi civilians were killed, while 244 others were wounded as result of terrorism, violence and armed conflicts, according to a monthly release by the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), issued on Wednesday.
