Man Carrying Knife Arrested Outside Westminster Cathedral

From Express:
Officers on the Metropolitan Police’s Operation stopped the suspect after they saw him “acting suspiciously”.

The man is still in custody after being arrested on Francis Street.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “At approximately 11:45hrs on Thursday, 31 August, officers on routine patrol in the Victoria Street area of Westminster attempted to speak with a man who was seen acting suspiciously in an area known for anti-social behaviour.

“The man was found in possession of a large knife. He was arrested and taken to a central London police station where he remains in custody.”

“Enquiries continue.”

A picture of the blade, which appears to be several inches long, was tweeted out by Westminster MPS on Thursday afternoon.

Despite police confirming the arrest was not terror related, Westminster saw the horrendous jihadi-inspired attack by Khalid Masood which killed five people and injured 50 others.

Masood ploughed his vehicle through pedestrians through Westminster Bridge before stabbing PC Keith Palmer to death as he tried to break into the Houses of Parliament.

Yesterday’s arrest took place less than a mile away from the site of Masood’s sickening attack.
