Terror Attack Fears Lead Leicester Secular Society To Apply To Install CCTV

From the Leicester Mercury:
The Leicester Secular Society wants to install CCTV at its base in the city because it fears it will be targeted by Islamist terrorists in a Charlie Hebdo-style attack.

The organisation, which campaigns for a civil society free of religious privilege, has applied to Leicester City Council for permission to revamp the historic Grade II listed premises in Humberstone Gate.

It has lodged documents with the council which say it wishes to improve security because of the risk of incidents similar to the fatal attacks on the Paris-based satirical magazine in January and last month's deadly shootings in the Danish capital Copenhagen.

The society told council planners: "The installation of CCTV cameras is for deterrent and evidence gathering value in the wake of the recent Paris and Copenhagen Islamist attacks on sites dedicated to free speech.
